Thirding, fourthing, and fifthing and what not all the "NO" sentiment here. That is giving participation trophies. He is getting rewarded for doing something he obviously did not do....his homework. Run. As fast and as far away from that place. Good luck to you!
What do the notes say? Maybe the notes say the client asked for a follow-up in 9 months and retired early. Sometimes clients don't know how we work so maybe they figured they would just call in, like calling a bank.
My first thought though was absolutely not, change firms
Client expects to work with you, I would fight that hard.
No. Unacceptable
Tell your manager to kick rocks
Where the hell do you work?
Come work with me and maintain your business and your dignity.
Thank you all. Definitely some things to consider and confidence gained that I am right to feel slighted. Currently looking at my options going forward
Where are you located, and what company? We could use someone who has brought in too much!
What a bunch of crap. “I have a great idea team, let’s encourage bad performers and give them our clients so they don’t have to work!” So dumb
Absolutely no. Full stop.
The client called in looking for help getting an account opened to rollover an old 401k. He had reached out to our firm last summer to inquire about it, and a fellow advisor on our team had taken the call but never followed up and had not made any progress in closing. I answered the call yesterday when they called in and got suitability completed and all documentation done and client committed. Because the other advisor had notes in there from eight months ago that he needed to follow up, I was asked to give this one up because my net new assets are above expectations YTD and “it would help him a lot more than me”
Don't give it up
That’s bullshit. Go above him
I’m shocked that there are places that do that. It’s time to go.
Echoing everyone else, stand your ground and keep pushing this up the chain of command. Never knew someone in this business should be held back from making more money than coworkers. SMH!
No words
Not on my watch
So really... you’re using Jones jargon so I assume that’s where you work... what “manager” is telling you to give this away?
It is Edward jones jargon lol always two sides to a story
Get the branch manager involved
Stay strong. You need a company that will never do this.
