Closing in a month for a condo. It was disclosed that the unit has bed bugs in May 2020 and was treated and infected bed frame was removed. Should i still proceed forward? Or is this a big no no

Can you please share your experience, I come from a country where do not have these bugs. So I am unaware. I loved the condo so is it a complete no deal for that unit or can I go with some other unit in the condo?

Bed bugs not only live in a mattress but can live in the walls, floor boards, etc. Unless I absolutely loved the condo, I probably wouldn’t chance it. Or at least at the very minimum do some investigating and see if the neighbors have bed bugs and hire someone to come check it out

I second the bedbug dog inspection - just having someone do a visual inspection is not thorough enough. A renter of mine brought in bedbugs and it took months to get rid of them. The first inspection we got said there were no bedbugs, but renter was insistent and the next guy who came said they were everywhere.

We went through several rounds of extermination, had to heat treat the place (warped the cabinets) and when I finally sold the place and was fixing up some things - found a lot of (thankfully) dead bedbugs under the floor boards.

I would recommend asking neighbors about what it’s like living the building and you could mention if they’d ever had issues with bugs - don’t just go up and ask about bed bugs or you may cause a panic or get the HOA very mad at you!

Also worth a shot checking https://bedbugregistry.com/ to see if neighbors near you had reported any recently.

Is anyone interested in taking over the lease for a top floor 3 bed 2 bath, 1500 SQ ft apartment in a newly built complex in Plaza Midwood? The lease runs through Sept 2023. It's one of the nicest complexes in the city, has close proximity to Uptown, and has excellent amenities (e.g. CrossFit style gym, two pools, dog park, on site complimentary cafe, etc.). My unit has an ideal layout for work from home and a huge patio.

Edit: $3,196/mo including valet trash pickup ($35) and pest control ($4)

I know travel disrupts sleep and I eat heavier food when I’m on the road, so I’m watching that, but any other tips to not come home feeling like a shell? Or how to bounce back faster?

We bought a 2bd condo 5-6 years back for 300k which has increased to 500k now - approx 10% annual return. Do not plan to sell it. Thinking of buying another condo in same complex for for 550k, which has appreciated in the value the same way.. 300k to 550k in last 5 years. Not sure how far it can grow... but have had decent returns so far. Should we wait or pull the trigger?both are investment properties.

How do rate locks work? I’m in NJ and I’m finding it so difficult to understand their fine print. No lender locks a rate here unless you have an accepted contract and further if that contract fails to close the rate lock automatically expires. I keep hearing so many folks saying they have a rate lock when I go check out open houses and I wonder how did they manage that?
