I think it’ll change to more flexible options. Kicks offs, workshops, , final deliverables, touchpoints will have an on site cadence. But it could very well be 1-3 days instead of 4 or every third week or something like that. Best of both worlds

Maybe for 2020 and 2021 but I think slowly the old regime will return. I strongly believe that in person interactions make a huge difference in any work that has a relationship aspect... I.e., almost all consulting work

I think for the next ~1 year it will be WFH as offices just won’t have capacity for everyone (to maintain social distancing until we have a vaccine solution). Longer term I agree travel will likely reduce, but I think it’s less bc clients don’t see the value in us being on site, but bc I think their working styles are going to change. If the world in general shifts to more flexibility and lots more remote work, no point in having consultants sit in an empty office. I’m already (trying) to prepare myself for an entirely different lifestyle going forward. Buying a car, considering moving out of downtown, etc.

I like this a lot. Consulting isn't the only industry being affected - clients are wrestling with the same problem and will shift as well.

I don’t know but after a few years of weekly travel I think I’m over the hype and definitely wouldn’t mind being remote for remainder of 2020

Yeah 100%. Was likely going to happen either way, just accelerated now

The main appeal of consulting for many at the entry level is the travel. I think removing this will reduce the appeal for younger people, and partners will still of course need to travel to build business

Agree that it is a positive for society as a whole, too many people going into banking/law/finance. Just not so good for consulting firms long term

I’ve pretty much worked from home for the last 7 years. I think I’ve only had two projects requiring me to be on-site mon-thr. One of those was only because the client wanted us there for some unknown reason. They also wanted to sit in the team room with us. It was the worst.

Can someone explain how the Fly to the Finish challenge works for United 1K? The main thing I am confused about is whether the qualification is based on total PQP or only on PQP earned within the promotional period (Aug 8th - Nov 30). If total, I am already past based on the PQP they granted at the beginning of the year

I'll be renovating my house (gut all existing bathrooms and kitchen, extend house to make room for an extra bathroom). It's currently my primary residence but I likely have to move in early 2022 to another city where I also own a house and then I plan to rent my current residence via Airbnb. What should I consider from a tax perspective? For example, if my current residence becomes an investment property before or when I renovate, does the renovation count as a tax deductible expense?

How do you justify an annual fee for the credit card? Trying to understand more as I am starting to get more observant of my spends and tighten up finances. For years, I had Amex Platinum only because I could afford it. And it gave me lounge access internationally. I closed it out earlier this year. Idk if I "took advantage" of any benefits that it offered outside of lounge...I mean I could've just not eaten at a lounge! So how do you 'recover the cost' of an annual fee?!?
