This is so sappy, but be kind to yourself. You are accomplishing a ton by managing your family and career and doing it all with style. Take it day by day with your team and boss. Keep your boundaries and search for those parent allies who can be in your corner. Hang in there. Going back to work after parental leave is so heavy and so nuanced, so let yourself adjust. We are all rooting for you mama.
Good for you to set boundaries!!
Your team forgetting is totally on them - that is not ok and I would discuss with the project lead. Why are they working so much longer than you (are they)? Is there a perception that you aren’t doing enough? Do they feel resentful if it’s perceived that you are working less or missing out on things? Is there a way you and the team can figure out how to better communicate when things are missed - e.g., the chat feature on Microsoft teams to capture group notes? I don’t mean to be negative but unfortunately project work is not always limited to 9-5 and the team not telling you they were physically working in a different location feels like a big miss to me. I would try to get to the root of it and figure out ways to stay connected as much as possible.
Haters gonna hate. You do you mama! I leave at 5pm everyday and keep my boss happy. That’s all that matters.
today i ended up at the client site alone as the team decided to work at the office instead and forgot to inform me. no one in the team has kids....
thanks so much all (sob). Did mail my manager about sharing information. I know I am a little too sensitive as it is also my promotion year and am always worried how people would judge me at the evaluation meeting. But will do the best I can. At least try! thanks all :-)
