Dave Ramsey is essentially a cult that you need to be a true believer in. Based more on faith than facts.
Like a lot of religious related self help, it’s good for people who lack self control. Have a friend who is in a completely different place by following him and eliminating debt entirely.
On the other hand, if you have discipline his financial advice is clearly sub optimal. Debt can be just fine, credit cards are great if you always pay in full, and paying off your mortgage is a dumb idea at a 3% interest rate.

Yup, it’s behavioral financial planning.
Great common sense system. I like it especially as it is designed to work for people that are in huge financial messes.
I think the principals can apply to anyone.. limit debt except for real estate... invest in equities for long haul.. avoid expensive depreciating toys like boats, RVs, cars unless you can pay cash for them..
Paying down your mortgage is a good idea. A lot of people refi and or buy new homes which extends their term. Trust me, you don’t want to be 65 with a huge mortgage payment hanging over you.
People will argue there are better returns in the market, and if you have the discipline, go for it. But most people don’t pay off their house and just spend the difference...
I’m not a fan of Dave Ramsey, but a lot of established companies will consider things like this.
For example:
1) Credit Score - 25% of employers check credit score according to Nerdwallet.
2) Executives often have a spousal “dinner” where they and their spouse are asked to dinner. It gets around the law since it’s not an interview, just a dinner, but is decently common at the Executive level.

Have you read the lawsuit documents from Caitlin O’Connor? Fired her for getting pregnant outside of wedlock, but allowed Chris Hogan and other leaders to have affairs and remain with the org.

Someone fired for choosing to have a baby out of wedlock... would Ramsey prefer she aborted?
I don’t have a problem with people living by religious convictions, but trying to force those behaviors on others is ridiculous... especially for a company that is based on behavioral science...
That’s really skirting the law on questions that can be asked about children and marital status for budget, but the spousal interview is illegal in the US.

Considering the government site is literally saying those questions can be used as evidence of illegal activity, they are for intents and purposes considered illegal. Not sure why you're trying to be so pedantic about it? Try asking those questions and explaining your point during a lawsuit...
What is this?? And why does it all assume that the interviewee is incapable of figuring out their own budget or what career is right for themselves or their family?
I’m interviewing w Ramsey solutions rn. Let me just tell you it is a very different experience lol. I love it, but definitely would seem super wacky to someone who isn’t fully bought in

Sounds like the opposite of what most companies do which is treat you like a number.
Maybe it sounds extreme to you because for your entire working life you've been to referred to as a "resource" and asked how much "bandwidth" you have like you're a modem.
Dave Ramsey is financial help / motivation for ppl to do financially well. Good for basic advice.

But you have to do extra things like these types of things and then also prove you’re a good Christian constantly
