Coming back from maternity leave and considering switching firms. Are there typical monetary implications or restrictions to switching? Do you need to be at firm for a certain amount of time prior to leaving to avoid having to pay anything back?

Yes, there can be. At Deloitte, you need to come back for 30 days or you run the risk of having to pay back money. Check with your hr.

like

Yup

If you spoke with HR before your leave started, I would have expected them to let you know if there were any penalties or pay back for not returning.

like

Not that I’ve heard of

Depends if you had a signing bonus or not usually

Thank you! Calling HR ASAP.

I'm done with this app. People are talking about that parents don't have the right to know if their kid wants to be called by a different pronoun and keeping things from parents. Makes me sick. I told them they're all fucked in the head. So I'll be booted soon. Good knowing some of you. Peace.

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. I just had my second child and want to ask to come back from maternity leave on a part time basis but our firm doesn’t seem to have anything in place right now. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!

For those who are working because you have to how do you cope with feeling like you wish you could stay at home? it would be my dream to stay home until my child was at least 4 but it’s off the table for me because I am the breadwinner. Sometimes it’s very upsetting for me and today is one of those days.

My baby daughter is almost 1 and I’m looking to stop breastfeeding and wean to cows milk soon. She has had very few bottles in the past 12 months (combo of Covid + she rejected bottles for several months) so we’ve primarily been nursing. I’m looking for weaning tips from parents in a similar situation. Seems like most methods involve combo of breast milk + cows milk in a bottle but that doesn’t really work for us since I haven’t pumped since like November!

Maybe some perspective might be of use to me. I’m transitioning out of the service and I’ve positioned myself decently to be competitive in the market. I’ve got two offers from great companies. Biotech and Healthcare, both on the Human Capital Team as an Employee Relations Consultant. I have a graduate degree pursuing a Doctorate, LSSBB, ScrumMaster, SPHR, and PMI-ACP certified. I know this is personal and dependent, but what should I be considering as a commensurate salary?

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise

Circumcision - this is a topic where I’m really stumped. I know it’s a highly personal choice, so I can tell you a bit about me and my husband:

- not religious
- liberal Democrats in a coastal state
- my family is conservative and all-American
- husband’s family is from the Midwest so pretty similar but the only cousin my son will have is uncircumcised (his mom is a lesbian and they live in the woods in Vermont).

I want to be progressive on this topic… (cont)
