I am slightly annoyed with some recruiters who are reaching out to me for some analyst level roles, and when they reach out to my male colleague with identical background they would present him the manager role in the same department. This is not an isolated observation but years of observing recruiting cycle.

Hiring Managers: if you have a candidate who has done the exact same job before and interviewed well, and another candidate who hasn’t done the exact same job before but has transferable skills, what would make you pick the second candidate? When I get feedback from interviews, it’s often ‘we are looking for someone who has done this role before’, and I don’t know how to move into a slightly different career if I can’t seem to land a job to begin to get experience in it.
