Coming off of my first real, full week of PTO in my 10+ year career (my fault... that was self- imposed) and WOW. I actually feel refreshed, comfortable with returning tomorrow and grateful that my firm and team did not once try to grab my attention for literally anything. Take your PTO, folks. I'm serious. It helps.

Wow must feel nice. I take a week long vacation at least twice a year. Then the rest of PTO are long weekends

I should also clarify that my career has been mostly non-consulting so way less stressful and more bearable. Definitely couldn't have managed that in consulting.

You haven't taken a full week off in 10 years?

Reply above explains ^

I have taken two separate week long vacations and will be off a week for thanksgiving and Christmas too not to mention the other partial weeks/long weekends, all just this year. No way in hell I’d ever be able to do that for 10 years!

I've definitely done the long weekend thing and the random middle of the week day, just never a consecutive week. What a difference!!

Dude, you’ve missed out!!

Apparently!

God bless your soul

Hello all! Changing from Vacation and Sick Time to just plain PTO starting in Jan. Staff can save up to 40hrs of their accrued Sick Time banks to use in 2022 in addition to their new PTO. We have a part-time employee with more than 40 sick hours who will try to use as much of their Sick Time as they can before Jan 1. If this person has an avg weekly schedule of 17.5 hrs, can we stop them using sick time if their sick + work time will take them over their 17.5 scheduled hours? Thanks!!

The owners of our company like to do a holiday handout at Thanksgiving each year. They used to do a whole Thanksgiving meal (turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pie). Last year there was a lack of available turkeys in the quantity we needed, so we switched it up and did a bottle of sparkling cider with a $25 gift card. This year the owners want to do something different but they are not sure what. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have about 300 employees in one location. Thanks!!
