To the KPMG user who keeps posting about billable rate and salary:
This is a bad idea because other firms will use that information to undercut KPMG.

Do you consider stocks in your income/salary negotiation? Like if an offer exceeds your expectations but part of that is stock, is that sufficient or is it reasonable to counter with a higher cash compensation due to quality of living expectations etc.
I’ve spent the last 2.5 decades in a toxic relationship with a company that I pretty much gave my heart and soul to and now have regrets about the things I missed while working my @ss off for the approval and recognition I rarely got. Today i start with a new company and i feel like I’m leaving the nest. How do I not let work consume me like I always have? Also, could really use a pep talk right now as I’m kinda panicking about leaving my comfort zone.
Guys, I am a radical democrat. I support more or less socialist policies and am in general OAN’s hysterical nightmare version of a liberal.
And I would never, ever support joe Biden or any democrat working to overturn the results of an election. This is not normal, and it is not “both sides.” If you support the president in this coup attempt, you are a problem for democracy.

Anyone ever pivoted from Sales to working in D&I? I’m 3 years out of college and realized I’m not super passionate about Sales. The last time I was really happy doing “work” was in college when I took an active role in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion related events/issues. What roles are there for entry level but some prior experience?
NYC folks -- where did you find your roommate(s)? Struggling to find a good match on Facebook / Craigslist. Looking for a new roommate come Oct/Nov and wanted to get the ball rolling.
My bold prediction for 2022. Salaries are increased 10% across the board before the year is over (hopefully by mid year if we want to attract and retain top talent).

My assistant is a nice person who has worked worth me for about 1.5 years. I have a solo family law practice, and she excels at dealing with clients, which is great. Unfortunately, her attention to detail sucks and it is making me crazy. For example, I told her to find the order entered that required OV to comply with discovery within x number of days. She comes in my office and tells me no such order was entered. It takes me about 3 minutes to find the order, which was about 2 orders (cont)
I work in a small office (7 attorneys) doing ID work and just accepted an in-house role. Everyone is the office is really nice and likes me but, long term, I don’t see myself as a litigator and want to open other career opportunities by taking the in-house role. How do I give notice without burning bridges and feeling like I’ve let them all down?
Exit opportunities for a 2nd year? jokes are welcome but some serious answers would be appreciated lol
Interviewed with a firm yesterday. I’m a second year, practicing primarily in family/criminal. They asked me if I would be willing to take a lower salary to start because i have no experience in the area they practice (education, employment, etc). Not sure how to feel about being asked to basically take a clerk position for an indefinite period. Is this common?
True confessions: has anyone ever signed their client’s name to a document (in a transactional setting - I know zero about litigation), particularly where they’ve just signed a bunch of stuff remotely and you’re too embarrassed to tell them you’ve missed a document? Or because you’re under a crunch and don’t have time to go back to them for it? Not talking about anything other than say a manager’s certificate or other corporate authority doc.
Ok y’all set me straight!
I am a third year attorney working for non profit (trial experience) what should I be asking for $$$ wise if switching jobs? I’m in the Los Angeles area. Is $120 asking too much... it would be about 20k more than what I make now.

I’m currently torn between a smaller firm practice with pretty low key hours and $200k salary (still with potential to grow) or stepping into the international AmLaw space where I’ll be much busier and chasing bigger clients with a much higher earning potential. I know it’s a “what are your values” question, but I would appreciate any advice in evaluating this.
🎵🎵 I can’t wait to be back in the office🎵🎵
First full day back in the office. I guess I’m not too upset but I did like work from home…
How should associates handle getting criticized by a partner for spending too much time on something? Specifically, if I’m given work that a partner knows I have little/no experience with, and I spend the time trying to learn it, should I try to defend that when the partner says I billed too much and asks why? Do people not bill for that kind of thing/are we not supposed to bill for all of our time? I’m always so confused..
Can you request to a partner to not work with a particularly difficult client? Client requested “male” attorney sign my work and has been borderline verbally abusive
I just got word that a job offer is being made on Monday. Early in the process HR told me the company’s target was $120k. Now, HR is asking me what number I would be comfortable accepting. What should I say?
Culture question. I’ve always been environment where you get your work done, bill your hours, you’re good. This new job is focused on hours in the office. Is this normal? More in comments
Any insight into Reed Smith Pittsburgh?
Would any of you biglaw associates take a 40% pay cut to work at a midsize firm with no billable hour requirement (realistically 1700 hours range)? I am trying to figure out whether I should give this up for the extra cash and prestige.
