You’re in the process of taking a new position, waiting for an offer letter. At what point should you let them know the PTO you will need for the rest of the year? What was your first job out of college, your major, what city, what year, and what was your starting salary?

Thinking of moving to a bigger city and a much bigger firm. This would mean a much larger mortgage as well. Is this a terrible idea right now given interest rates and market volatility? Am I at risk for downsizing? I’m terrified to make this move but I’ve reached my potential at my current firm and I miss living in a big city.

I am thinking if getting on my wife’s insurance, and waiving the insurance through my company. I’d save about $5k a year and my wife’s insurance is actually better. Is there any reason not to do this? Am I missing something?

Tax question: Say I am due to owe $50k in capital gains in 2021. What’s to stop me from going out and buying a Tesla and renting it out on Turo for $1,500 per month. I then use bonus depreciation to write off the full expense of the car in year 1, negating the $50k in capital gains owed.

Say I want to do a major renovation on my house. Are there banks that would offer a loan (HEL or mortgage, don't care which) over 95% of the current appraised value of the house?

If we did it, we'd be adding a bedroom, bathroom, and garage, and we would be increasing square footage by about 75%. House currently worth around $400k with $260k left on the mortgage; future comps are worth about $650k. Best guess is it is a $200k renovation.

Thinking about getting a part time masters, but I’m unfamiliar with the financial aid process. What are the best opportunities to have education subsidized? Rolled my old 401k over to a rollover IRA under the same brokerage and lost some money. What the hell did I do wrong? It was a direct rollover btw

My house is paid off and a family friend is willing to pay cash for my house. We agreed on the price and inspections have passed with flying colors. What steps do I need to take for the sale of the house without having to pay a realtor a percentage for doing nothing? All I need is a contract they protects both parties - does anyone know?

I'm a long time user of mvelopes budgeting software, and we just got a notice that they're shutting the platform down at the end of the year.

Hi - AMEX sign up bonus is higher than ever. DM me if you would like a referral link, I’ll split my bonus with you as well :)

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments
