Confession: I'm a new mom traveling and nursing my baby (pumping at work). I'm starting to think the reason I still nurse is to leave the 20 person conf room and go sit in a quiet room for 20 mins.

Yes, congratulations and thank you for committing to pump at work. A woman on my team does the same, and whenever she does something like apologize for it being "gross or tmi" to the men on our team, I go out of my way to reinforce with support and positivity.

I've long advocated for quiet rooms at our office. 15-20 mins of peace is so rejuvenating

Good on you, OP! :D

like

Don't think it's gross or TMI, that's real nice that you go out of your way to show support, EY1

like

^anyone who says pumping or breast feeding is "gross" is incredibly ignorant and insensitive. You were breast fed once, how would you like it if someone called your Mother gross for feeding you?

like

Yes, gross. God forbid OP use her breasts for their intended purpose and feed her kid.

I store the milk at the hotel fridge then bring it as my carry-on. I know the firm will pay for overnight delivery but it's more of a hassle.

One of ACN's benefits last year was free overnight delivery of milk for mothers on the road as well.

The culture around PTO on my 6-7 person team is one where: 1) no one (besides me) takes more than 1-2 days off a year, 2) people frequently brag about how little time off they take…”I only took one day off for my child being born”, 3) people make comments that I’m “always on vacation” (in the last 2.5 years working at my company, I’ve taken cumulatively ~4 weeks off). Team workflow is deal-based so it’s difficult to plan in advance for taking time off as deals often come up unexpectedly. Cont…

Would love to hear from moms whose babies went to daycare / school right after maternity leave (no nanny etc). Due in March and on the list for a stellar Montessori daycare / preschool near us to start in August (school year) when baby is 4-5 months old. Feeling guilty and struggling to decide if keeping baby home a year with a nanny is better, starting school in 2023? However, I’m worried about cost - we really would not be able to afford a nanny in our city on our salaries. Advice welcome!

Trying to predict how long I can do this etc. any tips would be helpful ? My ex pays the mortgage which is 50% of childcare right now. I have a nanny 9 to 5. I save zero and it scares me .

I have a rather long question. If I run out of space, I will continue in the first comment. I sponsor a GSA. There is a trans student who is always making sardonic comments in inappropriate times. The students who were speaking felt that they were not heard, and all of the attention was focused on this trans student.

After a month of having to constantly ask about my onboarding, I finally was able to join. Now, it's been two weeks and no one seems to know how I get my laptop. With the support number I get an automated response of some mail I should have got which never came. I raise a ticket and they close it saying talk to the manager or onboarding advisor. There is no onboarding advisor and my manager asks me to go back to support. So, did I do something to offend the gods or is this hassle expected?
