I have called it out but only when that BS is directly impacting my reputation or ability to deliver. If those things are happening, well within your control and right to speak up on your own behalf.

I would say to: 1) approach it with the assumption that they have no malicious intent and are predisposed to working toward a better relationship 2.) be prepared to shift gears in a more aggressive, but respectful, approach should #1 not be the case. Personally I have found that most conflicts are simply the result of a misunderstanding and are easily resolved when approached with point 1 above in mind.

Usually better done over a conversation rather than email unless you intend for that to be an escalation.

I am an office coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and want to break into the field of research.
