Very great question! At this stage my organizations are aware that they need more diverse talent, however they are at a loss of where to find them. This may also be due to recruiters bias which is another part of the issue after you identify diverse talent. Thanks for your questions. Candidly, I've seen many firms talk about hiring diversity, but had little to show over time. In my view, the importance of hiring diverse talent has to come from senior executives at the firm. If the organization's leadership doesn't understand how diversity benefits the firm or its clients, then the talk goes nowhere. In addition to senior leadership support, there needs to be mandated diverse candidates on the slate for each opening. Unconscious biases too often make it possible for good candidates to be over looked. Retention is equally as important as access. Organizations can do a better job making the promotion process more transparent, evaluating managers' ability to lead and develop people, and recognizing successful teams. To be sure, this requires ongoing commitment and focus from the organization.

After submitting a job application, personally how long do you wait before not hearing any response that you take the intended job out of consideration and move on? (Not counting those random out of the blue jobs where recruiters hit you up 2-3 months later after you’ve applied.) Thoughts on an exit to Sales Operations / Deal Desk roles at tier 1/2 tech & hot startups? I’ve heard mixed feedback including these roles are back-office, not good enough for actual sales and not skilled enough for finance/strategy, etc — but also heard the above mention is ignorant hate, these roles could be quite lucrative in their own right, etc. I’m coming from an unbiased angle hoping to see if this type of exit is right for me!
