Yeah it amazes me how entitled some of us are. I complained about my first bonus being "only $500" and my dad (admin at a hospital" ripped into me, saying this his employees don't get bonuses and the employee of the month gets... A $15 gift card to the grocery store.
Why should you get anything at all for making it to 5 years? You already get a performance bonus. Should you really get a substantial reward just for not getting fired through your first 5 yearly reviews and not leaving on your own?
My firm gives us a pretty email on our 1, 5, and 10 year anniversary. $70 after tax isn't much but it's pretty much what that accomplishment is worth. Be grateful you're in a position to complain about $100
I get it OP. but really, it's better than nothing. I celebrated my 15th year at Accenture in July, I got 150 performance points. That's equivalent to 150 dollars (minus tax). 10 dollars per year of service? Just don't think of it that way and be more appreciative. If you got just the email as acknowledgement of 5 years, you will also complain. If you got a pen, you will say you can buy that for yourself. Be happy that you have enough money to shrug off $100. Just appreciate and you'll be happier. At least you got a good laugh out of it.
Don't worry they'll tax you the 30% on it too, so it's really only $70.
If you don't get anything, you complain. If you get something, you still complain.
Don't you think it's better than just a mail!!
D2, dont bonuses get taxed at the highest rate possible? 😂 Depending on the state, OP, you might get just enough to become a dollar menu millionaire!
Calm down C1, you're reading way too much into this post lol. I personally feel if the firm is going to monetarily reward me for committing 5 years to the firm it should at the very least be something meaningful like $500, OR it should be nothing at all and I would be equally satisfied for the mail. But handing out a card with a meager amount is silly. It's like going to a best friends birthday party and handing out $10. Go buy yourself some gum.
I got a 2 gb Deloitte USB stick for my 5 year anniversary last year 😐
Go buy your bags of peanuts
You didn't "commit" 5 years anywhere for a 5 year bonus. You committed because you did a cost benefit analysis and all things considered you didn't leave. If they needed to spend more to keep you they would have. Since you're not quitting over $100, sounds like they didn't even need to spend that.
That card with a meager amount is more than like 70% of American workers will make for their total bonus this year...
Most companies don't do anything. What are you complaining about?
This reminds me of the time my old boss gave me a $5 dunkin gift card for Christmas. Like nooooooo
Relax everyone. Just because I find this funny doesn't mean I don't appreciate the extra $100 in my pocket.
@D9 I didn't get anything for the other years.
I know, ple aren't happy with $100 no more. Sad days. Give it to me. Oh by the way congratulations. Hope you 5 becomes 50
$100 is insulting, I'd be happier with nothing
I completed 5 years a few days ago and had the same reaction OP! I would have liked a mini iPad with "happy 5th and more to come engraved on the back of it". Lol... sentimental me :)
What did you expect? A BJ from the CEO ?
Lol
^^cathy does not look like she can take the d
ACN gives 50 performance points
Congrats on not getting fired. Sorry your company didn't give you more free money.
