I’m pretty sure we’re trying to mandate vaccines now with covid, a virus that is pretty statistically unlikely to cause significant illness or death especially in vaccinated people. So I’d go with .05%?

You did the calculation, though. And it’s not a statistic that LA county has published or is citing publicly, based on a search for LA county covid mortality statistics 😂

Fatality isn’t the only factor. A high fatality plus high transmission rate would likely require it.

Not sure the percent. I fear this is the new warfare.

If you're comparing it to Ebola, I think natural selection would solve this for us

TBH, I think the answer depends on whether the vaccine gives its recipient natural immunity (as is the case for the vast majority of vaccines) or quasi-immunity that the Covid vaccines provide.

oh cool, i found someone that has no idea what they’re talking about!

Depends on many factors(dormancy phase, media hype, post infection symptoms, who is the most vulnerable) , but I would say 10% if it has a high transmission rate.

If Ebola was as transmittable as Covid and there was a vaccine, I think there’d be a lot less anti-vaxxers and govt might not need to legally mandate. People would run (not walk) to get that shot. I mean… I think.

agreed.

There is a vaccine for ebola

This is why I don’t believe utilitarianism is the best approach. These type of situations are a lot more nuanced, and they should be treated that way.

I feel so angry and sickened whenever I'm reminded of them. 😣🤢 Yaya I know I should be happy for them but that's why I'm posting here 🤡
