Depends on what you are looking at this point in time from your career. CD make give you better work life balance. Growth may be slower. Money will be a little less but not as bad. If you are with the right group of people and a company that does lot if acquisitions or divestitures its all good. I know a few who jumped from Deloitte to Amazon and they seem to be doing great.

I work in an M&A / DD practice. The WLB will be way better than consulting. However, it will be more hours and more demanding than a regular corporate gig. Also, you'll be working for ex-bankers and consultants, so standards will still be very high for work product. The main thing is if they are busy: partnerships, alliances, acquisitions and divestitures. If it is a sleepy group not doing much, it is boring. If they are doing the stuff I mentioned above, it will be a lot of fun and very interesting.

Wait, why would I work on deliverables if I have consultants?

already asked same question on a different thread asking here again. CD jobs generally pick ibankers right? why would i-bankers be interested in going to CD if the pay isn’t great as consulting. I am a SC at Deloitte in M&A practice. even my plan is to exit into CD in the short term. I will have to reconsider this path if the pay isn’t great. other career option that I’m considering is PM in tech companies. personally i like Diligence work.

Which big tech? Have been internal at 2 - the only risk is that pipeline dries up.
