Could someone explain the difference between a firm policy that sets a specific amount of paid vacation time for associates versus a firm policy that has unlimited vacation time? Specifically with respect to how this impacts billable requirements. Thank you!

I am in TAC for a fairly large networking company. I am making 48k a year with decent benefits and unlimited PTO. I love working at this company and my boss is fantastic. However, I feel as though I am being underpaid given my credentials. I have my CCNA and almost have my CWNA. Hi. I’m an exempt employee (my boss’s only W-2 employee) and have two weeks of PTO. He’s making me use that for my physical therapy and doctors appointments, and I just got diagnosed with something related to my I jury (not work related) that could qualify me for temporary disability. How do I approach this and can I get fired for this? I have to take care of my body! And he’s insanely rigid, cheap, stubborn, and at this point I don’t even think he cares about me. I’m a very hard worker!

The understaffing at my small plaintiff’s litigation firm is taking its toll on me. Once again SOLs/deadlines are piling up right around the holidays (when I usually try to take vacation) and I’m dreading it because I will be stuck doing all of it (and will probably have to skip my vacation). The attorneys won’t help, and the other paralegals are either too busy or too incompetent for this level of work.
Should I ditch litigation and the non-negotiable SOLs and move to something transactional?

How do I become on-par with my big law peers in terms of skill level?
c/o 2019 EC/VC. got rejected after a screener today, and the feedback: I didn't seem to have the drafting skill set expected of a rising 3Y associate. This was on point because 1) Left biglaw to do ECVC at boutique, so only been a year, 2) more importantly, at my firm the partners mostly handle the drafting of key docs. For reasons, I really want to get back into biglaw. How do I train myself for the required skillsets?

Is it me or do most CMOs just do nothing? 😅
I’m on my third one (working under not as an employer) and I swear they pass out all the work, expect daily stand ups but themselves do very little. Not once have I seen their to-do list or any achievements.

My workplace Wi-Fi blocks my email app from refreshing (I have an iPhone and use the mail app). Does anyone know a workaround to this? Where I sit has terrible cellular service so disconnecting from Wi-Fi doesn’t help unless I walk to another building.

I don't know who needs to hear this (besides my current partner) but if you're double dipping on your gig and partner, let them know and don't make them chase you down. That's how you stop getting work real quick.
