Considering move from healthcare consulting to private equity. No previous finance experience. Would it make more sense to go to a boutique firm or a giant like KKR to phase in and work my way up?

I'm considering making a move from consulting to the President of the United States. No previous executive experience. Would it make more sense to be the Governor of New York or the Prime Minister of Canada to phase in and work my way up?

Lol you make it sound easy. Good luck

The entry into a boutique is hundreds of times easier than into shops like KKR, TPG or Blackstone

like

@D2 way easier to get into boutiques like Canada, than shops like New York state

To clarify, I have no professional experience in private equity as in a company on my resume, but I've had healthcare finance companies as clients at Deloitte. I also have a large network of friends in NYC that work in PE/HF that I talk to regularly about the market. And I did do a summer internship in investment banking. Didn't realize it is as difficult to get into that space as I anticipated

likefunny

OP - don’t let these debbie downers talk you out of it. Finding a job in a selective industry or otherwise, is like any case you’d have worked on.

Research the industry, speak to the junior-most team members first, articulate your story and focus on the value-add you’ll bring in. This coincidentally also happens to be one of the busiest hiring periods in PE, so you must just pull it off sooner than expected and surprise yourself. Good luck!

For those who become partner, is there anything stopping them from retiring after say, 5 years? Other than lost earnings potential, lost pension, etc. Like are there any sorts of clawbacks, etc?

For those of you who follow the FIRE (retire early) movement, once you have enough, you don’t need any more, and therefore may not be as incentivized long term by the dangling carrot.

But people like me still value career growth and want to accomplish as much as I can, during my working years.

Any HR due diligence professionals - my firm is looking for a Senior Manager. Will have significant say in how the whole shop is run and no utilization minimums. Small team with a steady pipeline but looking to grow at the manager level and up. Reach out if interested. FYI: I can’t get a bonus for this because it directly benefits me. We just want good people.

Hey NYC. Unemployment benefits question: if I quit a full-time job, then go work a short-term freelance job (2-3 months) will I be eligible for unemployment benefits after the freelance gig is over?

Anyone know which of the area defense contractors has the best benefits (I.e. paternity leave)? I’ve seen some that offer none and some that have provided 2 weeks. Seems that while perhaps the industry won’t match big tech, there has to be some out there that offer something more generous.

However, I feel like I should go to school which I currently am but definitely can’t do a full-time at both.. thoughts, thank you

Does anyone here work in healthcare reimbursement? More specifically related to regulatory compliance with governmental agencies (Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, Tricare etc…). I’d like input!

I am currently a charge nurse and am in a “Pathway to Leadership Program” that will come with promotions into leadership/administration. I am concerned that going through the leadership ladder will lead to a lot of politics.

I am thinking of getting a masters of healthcare informatics, and would love input from people in both industries and any advice you have!

Would you continue into the nursing leadership ladder or go into health informatics (which also has leadership!)?

Hello,

I am currently a Health Admin Fellow at a leading healthcare system. I am in a phase during my fellowship where I will have to start searching for a role within the system in the next 3 months.

I was wondering what kind of role would be best step forward for an admin fellow.

I was offered a project coordinator role but feel I should not accept the same without looking at other options. I aim to seek out a project manager role and was wondering if this would be the wrong step forward.
