Considering move from manhattan to brooklyn to get a bigger, newer place for similar rent given indefinite work from home. Recs on neighborhoods or buildings? Early 30s, don’t care much about nightlife but want walkable with good subway access and takeout options. Targeting ~$3k one bedroom
Unfortunately all the subway lines mostly converge in Downtown BK. There’s lots of luxury buildings around there but the neighborhood is not the best.
I’ve always loved BK Heights, Cobble Hill.
Other key subway access point is Barclays Center so you could look around Fort Greene which is great.
Park Slope is just south of there, by the park, but subway access is a lot lower the further south you go.
Also along barclays, prospect heights is a good area!
Can probably get a nice size place in Canarsie
Maybe try Windsor Terrace. Def get a good amount of space, right next to park slope and the park but much quieter neighborhood.
I’d urge you to look at Manhattan apartments too! Due to COVID, a lot of landlords have lowered rent and are giving 13th month free rent if you negotiate it.
Whatever you do - don’t plan on living off the G line if you expect an easy commute 🤣
Are you looking to live in Brooklyn (the whole area of the boro) or “Brooklyn” (Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bushwick)?
South BK isn’t that trendy. Gravesend and Midwood could also set you back a ton. Not really worth moving to certain areas unless you have a prior connection with the community there
Carroll Gardens, Midwood, Park Slope (the Flatbush side) and (don’t laugh at me) Coney Island, esp if you work downtown, since there’s gonna be a new ferry stop linking coney island with wall st in 2021. There’s a beautiful new ~luxury~ high rise complex there called Ocean Drive that has ocean views.
Kind of on that note there’s sheepshead Bay Area - luxury highrise just went up there too
