Considering moving to LA or SF, which one is better? Any input is appropriated.

I do not recommend SF. The city has become very sad and rents are through the roof. Think $3k+ for a studio.

Plan for 12%+ income tax. California is great to visit but cost of living bites

LA is better from a cost of living standpoint but not by much. Firms here are desperate for seniors though and pay really well. Let me know if you’d like a referral for a national firm :)

WOW. That is a crazy amount of money for a Senior.

Where are you moving from? What are your priorities for each? e.g., career, outside of work activities, reasonable commute, saving for future.

I can’t attest to this... it’s the only thing that keeps me around. It’s amazing how much you can save with $600 rent

like

SF of course. Plenty of opportunities & money. Beautiful city and weather. Unless you like LA traffic.

Making an offer. The sellers said they had 30+ people walk through the open house today, and are asking for best and final. They’ll make a decision on Monday. The list price is 775k. We were originally thinking of offering 700 to start since comps are around 735k. However, this is nicer than the comps renovation-wise. What would you all suggest we offer? We’d rather lose the house than overpay, so this concerns us.

Hi Fishes,
Can you decline the job offer after receiving the offer letter when you haven't even accepted it? Would it cause any problem? Also, sharing your payslips, current job offer letter BEFORE getting an offer from any prospective employer is safe? Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
