Considering offer as assistant controller at a small HF shop. Currently audit A2, will be promoted to S1 this Summer, and in HCOL market. No CPA.

Haven't gotten the details yet, but recruiter sent me for 95-100 base, expecting ~20% annual bonus, full medical dental, free lunch and gym FWIW.

Is this low? Is it worth sticking around 1 more year as senior for potentially better? The position has a lot of growth potential, as the shop is quickly expanding. What other factors do I consider?

Sounds about right. Those are the offers a2’s are getting in my office. I’d push for 105 base

Yup

I wouldn't go accounting role in funds due to the exit options.

Thinking is role is different from a typical fund accounting role. The CFO emphasized I'd not only be subjected to typical accounting, financial reporting, and Operations, but also investor relations, valuations and ad hoc projects being that its a small shop. Definitely more growth and resume bullet points I can see than a typical fund accounting at a Blackstone, Apollo, etc.

Just my 2 cents, don’t take it. wait it out until manager. My exit ops as a new hire M1 are closer so 200k TC in a MCOL. It will take you a decade to reach that in industry.

I am. 135 includes YE Bonus which is 20k this year plus 115 base

For less than 2 years experience, yes that’s a good offer if you’re ready to leave public for fund accounting. All in you almost double what you’re making, is that not enough? Hours will be longer and you’ll have a niche skill set which you have to be comfortable with.

My current org TechM has also matched the Money offering 60% of demand immediately as Hike Letter and remaining 40% as retention bonus to be paid as monthly allowances now and added in CTC next year .
