What job? What size? If you’re at a mega fund and in either investment or ops, the answer is no.

My SO is at a boutique in ops and has no wlb - basically just because of one MD. All it takes is one bad boss

Go to a boutique firm. Best work life balance possible

This. Boutiques—at least in banking—notoriously have the worst WLB. PE is no different.

What is 1.75 generation out of curiosity?

A friend in PE used to sleep on a mattress in the office. Bizarre culture, indeed.

I got I new job I start in 2 weeks. My husband and I planned on trying for our second child in August. Our children will already be much father apart in age because he was unexpectedly deployed for 18 months when our son just turned 1. We don’t want any larger of an age gap than we already will have but now I’m afraid to start trying for another child after only being at my new job for 4 months but it also devastates me to wait another year to start trying. What is your opinion on this?

Desi people, I need a third person’s perspective and marital advice here. Our wedding was rocky like most Indian weddings, this lead to not so great relationships with our respective in laws (me with his parents and vice versa). I try making up for it by talking to my in laws etc. My husband on the other hand, doesn’t talk to my parents at all, even when they are in our home. He never talks to them directly and talks to them only through me (always). My mom cooks when she is here and sometimes..

Hi Fishes, Is anyone going through a divorce? I have a very demanding and a conservative in laws place and husband is not supportive. Contemplating leaving the house. I have a 3 year old daughter. They basically want me to quit my job and do household work. I am scared to do that coz I know they will start loading me with work and ill treat me. I am lost and not sure if I can survive a divorce.

Soon to be FTM with potentially controversial question - every non-consulting new mom I’ve spoken to warns how horribly difficult the first few months are with baby (eg sleep deprivation, stress, etc) As a career consultant I feel like I’m pretty used to sleep deprivation, high stress - are we uniquely positioned for motherhood or am I in for a rude awakening?

How do couples share dining out expenses ? Before my current relationship I was happy to go 50:50. My current boyfriend easily has 4 drinks with a meal (I have one) and, being a big guy, eats at least twice of what I eat. For me an entree is enough. He likes to order multiple appetizers and desserts and eat them all. I want to say I will just pay for mine but I feel unsure how this looks.

Anyone have any tips on dating an older man (I’m 24 and he’s 31) that has a young child? His ex-wife has primary custody of the child, however he spends a decent amount of time with us. Recently we have been discussing when we want to have children together and where we want to be location wise. My family lives in NC and we are currently in NY (where his ex wife and child are). I recently expressed to him that I would like to be in NC with my family when we have kids because I want a solid….

Hi Ladies, How do you approach when your daughter (8) is invited to a sleepover/pool party at a hotel with other girls she’s friends with? I know the family a little from afar as our kids are in the same class/extracurricular activities but I don’t know them well. I’m going to assume the mom will be there but I just don’t know how to approach the convo without coming off weird.

A friend just kicked out of dental school because she refuses to get the COVID-19 vaccine. She claims her family has suffered “adverse affects” from the vaccine and is afraid to get it. What have you done to convince someone you love to get the vaccine? I hate watching her throw away her career because of something as trivial as getting a vaccine.

I found out that I was pregnant (unplanned) last week and it has absolutely shredded my relationship. I left the home my bf and I share, and I came to stay with my family. Part of the reason it got so bad is because he vehemently wants me to get an abortion, and I don’t know if I can do it. There wasn’t even a discussion of keeping it. He told me in no uncertain terms that he would resent me forever. I need help. Can anyone recommend a virtual counselor for us? Does anyone have any advice?

So I am seeing this guy, and whenever we go out for dinner we split the bill 50/50. Like he doesn't even offer to pay. But when we go out for drinks after dinner he pays. He's currently doing his MBA so loans and told me that money was always tight when he was a kid so I get it, but sometimes it's hard not to compare to my ex who used to pay for everything when we went out. But then again he had a range of other issues hence the ex... please offer some respectful thoughts to help me 😊

My District decided to initiate a “no zero policy” starting now. I was informed by administration that when a student does not turn in their work, I still have to give the student a fifty percent even though that student didn’t earn it. I teach sixth graders and I am not sure how I feel about this. Any words of advice?
