Considering reporting a colleague to HR . I work on a dev team and they are considered the “change management officer” . I’ve had multiple experiences with them where they are nitpicking what I say over slack , a lot of passive aggressiveness and what I consider to be condescending and continuously poking at me . I already checked them once but they started again in a large org wide slack channel . I don’t feel that my manager will support me and I don’t trust him as it’s a lowkey boys club

I can honestly say IBM’s culture does not support “reporting” folks! I had an South Asian gentleman stand behind to point were I could feel his private parts on me! Two gentleman saw it and I reported it. After the investigation, I was told that 2 gentleman could not have input because they were sub contractors. I was rolled off the project, he was not!

Just heads up… I learned we really done matter in corp America

HR is there to protect the company from “people problems”. Not to referee or be a coach to bad managers. I think it will at best have zero impact and at worst make more issues for you as now you’ll be seen as a complainer/problem person.

I think you need to either 1) address it head on with the manager or 2) start plotting your move to either another team or outta there.

I’m considering 2 . I think my business unit is pretty small and I feel like the managers and some of the “leaders” in the unit have a tad boys club energy . IBM and I’m sure other corporate companies have office politics where people feel that because they are older than you or more experienced in the work force , that they are your superior . The person isn’t my manager or anything related . I do a lot of the PM work for the team and just confirm our deployment processes with them .

Unless the colleague has a recorded history of this behavior (meaning others have reported him for something similar in the past), unfortunately there’s not much to be done here. At most, HR would speak with the employees manager so they could address the behavior, and your concern would be documented.

I would still encourage you to report it. That’s the only way to get the documentation started and hold the employee accountable. If it’s never addressed, it’s as if it never happened.

IBM is not a good company for “us”. From the outside in, great reputable company. On the inside, not much support for black women. I’d look for a new business unit to transfer to or just look at new opportunities outside the company

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. How consistent are your executives with their holiday gifts? one partner I support gave me $250 my first year with him and $500 last year. I really go above and beyond for him and in my feedback this month he told me I am the best EA he has ever had, so I was expecting at least the same. Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

I was hired by a company that is paying me a ridiculous amount of money to do my job, but they lied to me, they lied to all of the new hires. This isn’t underwriting, this is a call center. We aren’t even allowed to answer coverage questions when the agents call. The call volume is INSANE - like 70+ calls a day. There’s no actual underwriting happening, and I don’t know what to do. The money is great, but the job is a joke. I’ve been here for 2 months and I want out. Advice?
