I know our risk assurance team makes trackers to track the trackers they make for their clients. Seems productive

Copy/paste and he sends it as his own email

Never actually send them to the client, or rarely forward it to the senior manager (or if they are, I’m not cc’d so I’m not sure what has been followed up). Feel like I’m wasting my time and we’re not being as responsive to the clients needs by not giving them all the information that is available... anyone else experience similar situations? Just trying to make it so I’m not constantly spending time basically re-updating trackers/lists in different formats lmao

Have you ever tried just asking to be included?

There are groups where their entire job is PMO and write status updates, make trackers, draft PPT decks, and update them and draft emails.

I hate trackers. Not because I don’t think they are helpful, I think they are very helpful if people actually use them. But instead what ends up happening is I put the same comment on the tracker in response to my managers question like 15 times because he doesn’t bother to go back and check that we have already talked about it 15 times and had 3-4 calls about it. That’s when they become a waste of time.

Transitioned into consulting post-MBA (1.5 years ago) and generally enjoyed the experience. Since I joined my comp has gone up ~13% and I’ve liked my project teams but in my most recent review talk my partner told me he thought I was ready to be promoted and had advocated for me but there was an HR rule against it and I was on-track to be promoted in 6 months. Since then I’ve learned that one of my classmates (started 2-3 months before me due to COVID) was promoted last cycle.

The firm “encourages” reaching out to partners to chat, though I’ve tried and been essentially ignored. Partners rarely have enough time to give me feedback, so I feel they don’t have time to chat.
