Consultant currently work for a boutique firm - about 120 people. What are some of the benefits to working for a Big 4 firm?

1.better brand leading to better / more exit opportunities 2. Ability to specialize in specific industries / solutions 3. Better pay Note I think there’s definitely a tradeoff, but you asked for benefits :)

You get to say you work for Deloitte. Nothing cooler.

None really. I can safely say I don’t enjoy consulting at a big 4 because they’re audit firms wearing consulting hats. With the exception of Deloitte consulting. At other big 4, all decisions are made keeping audit in mind and consultants are second class citizens complaining about how they aren’t getting the experience they dreamt of like ridiculous expense policies, poor IT infra, shitty exit options, utilisation driven culture, low job security, crappy alumni network, no job search support, unsustainable attrition, low quality colleagues, selfish partners with outdated mindsets, bad long term projects in which you’re expected to stick it out and not complain, general lack of respect for junior staff, lack of willingness to discuss and tackle employee issues etc

Opportunity to work on large endeavors with large project teams is sometimes cool! (I.e currently on assignment with a major tech company with 110 consultants onsite in various locations)

like

D1, does that make you feel valued as an individual though? You know, as 1/110th of the project team?

And in general you feel like a number. And partners are not ashamed of it. If you’re currently at a boutique you’re going to hate it. Go for MBB. You’ll be happier. It’ll still be daunting but at least you won’t want to slap the hell out of everyone everyday. Again Deloitte consulting is an exception but idk by how much

@OW1 to some extent sure....big team...lots going on. At the same point, the success of this large endeavor has been huge for my own personal brand in the firm and if you make it a point to stay connected to project leadership, you don’t feel like 1 out of 110

Well....what are the trade offs?

Friends - Is any company hiring? Considering H1B transfer? I have total only 28 months left on my visa? Doesn’t look like the firm is going to sponsor green card. I have been performing well in my department no negative reviews in 4 years yet HR denied to file GC. Apparently they are only considering Managers for GC. Is this the same situation in Big 4 Audit? Please comment.

EY High Deductible Health Plan vs Open Access Select (don’t have EY bowl access yet) I just started at the firm and am trying to pick my healthcare. I don’t really ever go to the Dr so I’m thinking of getting the High Deductible plan. My question is, what does it mean that it’s not a “national network (Is this a national network?: No)” but it’s “network coverage: see any licensed doctor”? Those seem to contradict. Also HSA vs FSA, as a healthy 26yo, which is right for me (High D only has HSA)

I have experience in both (more strat) but interviewer said to think on where I want to focus as he has openings for both types of roles. I’m worried I messed up because I said I wanted to do program management…
