I didn’t travel that much for work but one time a guy ran after me with a knife in St. Louis when I was waiting at the door of a customer’s warehouse. I hauled my fat butt outta there right quick and made it to HH early 🍻

Sounds like Delmar or Kingshighway (the bad side).

I’ve been in consulting for over 20 years and was involved in this NTSB incident where the plane went out of control for 8 minutes and plunged 13,000 feet. It was the only time I have actually thought I would die - and I was not the only one. I got on another flight the next day. https://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/15/ntsb.aviation/brief.aspx?ev_id=20050523X00653&key=1

I was working on a European Operational improvement project for a global pharmaceutical company. I was routinely traveling to plants in the US, through western and Eastern Europe. On one particular month long tour where I spent time in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Poland and Turkey. I was so tired and jet lagged that I woke up and literally had no idea where I was for a few seconds. It was very disturbing.

I was on a 6am jfk to Washington that got delayed 20 minutes. Everyone got on another flight except for me. The plane needed to go to Washington anyway, so they let me stay on the flight. Was just me, the pilots and attendants. At one moment of bad turbulence I couldn’t help but think to myself nobody would care if this plane went down.

I woke up and saw my face raggedy from jet lag after 18 months of commuting across the world

My skin care routine is putting the hotel lotion on my face. Does that count? 🤷‍♂️

Pre smartphone era, I landed in New Hampshire in the middle of snowstorm after midnight and got lost trying to find the hotel driving down these tiny country roads barely able to see 5 feet in front of me.

Pre consulting life I was flying during a lightening storm in Texas and we had to land at an abandoned Air Force base. Worst flight ever.

Another OMG. I am getting terrified just reading these! And I used to travel all of the time!

Engine blew up during take off. I saw fire / smoke.

Anyone else in a long term project that feels toxic? I feel like I have no support whatsoever and feel like I have such major anxiety related to work. Not sure if y’all have been in a similar situation but I’m staffed on a project that is mindless busy work and I feel like I’m not progressing in my career. Makes me ponder where I went wrong in life sometimes: How did I do a top-tier MBA just to take a step back in my career? My job pre MBA was way more analytically challenging. Not sure if I’m being super negative or are some of these thoughts normal? Is it WFH syndrome? Thoughts on how to cope?

Any advice or experience reaching out to a big company to collaborate for a personal project/spec work that we actually want to make? We have this impactful idea for the common good, but don’t want it to get stolen on the way while we pitch it and ask a brand to collaborate to help make it come to life. Just curious who to reach out to at these bigger brands, how to approach pitching the idea (do we need a contract before we show them the deck?)

I’m a new manager and am trying to get off a client. Need guidance if I should do it. I work with a very nice senior manager who is up for partner. She gave me a very decent review. The client is horrible though. Piecemeal review comments, constant updates workpapers and last minute changes. The only good thing is working with this senior manager. She is also my counselor. I asked her to get off of this account, and she said the firm probably won’t allow it. I have another senior manager I work
