Therapy has helped me. I would also recommend meditation. The app Headspace is great for any level. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your recommendations - I will download Headspace and see if that helps. Therapy is a bit out of reach for me due to mediocre insurance, but I will also resume my search for a therapist. Much appreciated!
Can’t second these comments enough. I love the Headspace app and it’s worth every penny.
You should talk to someone (a professional) sooner rather than later. Without learning to manage this, it’s not likely to just go away. Don’t worry about any stigma, just focus on accepting/loving yourself for who you are. This job isn’t easy for anyone.
Thank you for your kind words! I have already downloaded Headspace, and am working on finding a therapist. I know not to worry about the stigma but it is a hard truth that it is still very much a tough subject to broach in consulting. Still some very old school mindsets around, unfortunately. Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time to comment and I appreciate your insights!
Therapy therapy therapy. Been diagnosed with GAD and then had depression on an off since my twenties. Been on Wellbutrin at times.
For me the most important thing is understanding my triggers and building coping mechanisms, like exercise, sleep and journaling. I can’t control my anxiety or depression.
I can manage it and learn to live with it.
I’ve found for myself that ANY change in routine triggers attacks. So even the act of rolling off a project and going on vacation which most people find fun is actually pretty stressful for me. Consulting works as long as I’m on longer more stable projects. Or if I am in a steady long term period of craziness.
I’m just mentioning this because you said you joined less than a year ago. Perhaps the change in career is upending some things?
There’s also a depression and anxiety bowl. You’ll find some support there
