I worked for a major hospital in their IT department making $38k a year, $20k less than my coworkers. Now, I have a 6 figure income doing Healthcare IT consulting. My old hospital has tried to rehire me 3 times.
Actually a couple of years ago, a recruiter called me trying to hire me for my old position. Of course they didn't know. Now it's paying $90k...a-holes.
2009- Laid off for the 4 times in a 12-month span. Looking for a company big enough to have its name on the side of the building to hire me. Hellbent on getting group health insurance and proving myself and not getting laid off again.
2019 - at the same company with the name on the building. Learned a ton about consulting, promoted twice, doubled my salary, still grateful for health insurance!
2009 - working at a drycleaner.

Badass
2009 — finished sophomore year, where I almost dropped out, dealt with suicidal impulses, struggled with crushing insecurity, worried I’d be alone forever, and all that fun stuff
2019 — finished a PhD. Got married. Got my dream job. Came out to myself, then my husband, then friends (hi, I’m bi!)(still too scared to tell my parents). Making the time to work on my passion when I’m not working as a consultant. Working my ass off, exhausted all the time, but finally, gloriously happy in my own skin.
Another phenomenal soul bearing writeup that makes me thankful for what I have....I can relate Kudos to you.
