Overall, I would answer your question as yes, it is the same for everyone. As far as I’m aware, you don’t get to negotiate a higher bonus percentage.
Bonuses should certainly correlate to performance, but recently Deloitte got rid of annual performance ratings. You don’t get a lot if objective data/feedback about how you ranked relative to peers anymore. There is a “scatterplot” that shows exactly how you compared to peers on your project “snapshots” which replaced project evaluations, but the scatterplot is only one of several factors in your rating.
If you negotiated a very high salary for your level, then you might in practice get a smaller bonus %, and vice versa. They probably would say they don’t, but I believe they do use bonuses to help smooth out discrepancies like that. Some of the Principals in your offering/industry leadership also have the ability to “tweak” bonuses for individual people in their group, so it’s not *just* a strict formula every year.
Need someone to explain this more. Have been getting beat up for a while, and can only think about leaving. No carrot in sight. The lame pay increase in September definitely won’t reel me back in
