Consulting vs big tech comp question: I’m currently making $175k base in a T2 city, working 35-40 hours/week. Is it even worth it to apply to Product Manager positions at Meta, Google, etc.? It seems like from a comp perspective I’m not gonna do much better than this, and any additional earnings would be outweighed by the COL increase if I had to move to California.

… which consulting firm is only 35-40 hours a week?

like

@Cacti 1, Applied Intelligence, ML

In a previous thread I read that product managers comp pays very well and esp if you pivot to a FAANG u could get some very attractive RSU packages

like

Make your decision on what makes you happy

Will we pay more - yes
Do we work a few more hrs than what you do - yes (but not many more <5 hrs)

Is getting a product mgr role on faang factors more difficult than getting a role in another consulting firm - yes

Do we offer remote roles - yes but they are rare for product mgmt

like

Both companies have some fully remote roles nowadays

You should also consider whether you like building and shipping new products in addition to comp.

Meta I think pays a little more than Google, but I think a PM role would be a good bit more than 200 TC.

I have been working into software development for past 8 years and my current CTC is around 50 lakh (including stocks of listed company). I don’t want to work into any managerial role for next 7 years more and also don’t want to work for companies like amazon where there is no work life balance.

Which all software companies in India i can work for where I can expect 10% CTC growth, a decent work life balance so that I can have a good married life in future. Thanks
