Hi fishes, My cousin is having 6 years experience in spring boot micro services. He got offer from Tcs for 16LPA and 18 from Comcast. He is assigned to AWS business unit in TCS. He tried asking the hr for matching thes same package 18LPA as Comcast but the hr told not possible to revise the package. Any inputs on AWS business unit and onsite opportunities in the AWS business unit. Tata Consultancy , Tata Consultancy

Define "big bucks." Yes an IB analyst out of undergrad makes more than a strategy consultant, but neither are "big bucks." In finance you make it at MD or HF/PE ($2mm in former, 200k-unlimited latter?). In consulting making partner for $500k+ isn't too terrible
OMG! You are really pumped up!
99.6% of US workers make less than $500k -- it takes some world class entitlement to describe a half million dollar income as "a bit little"
You think IB is going to be any better? It sounds like IB is worse(harder) than MC in most aspects like hours, client work, shitty bosses, stress, etc. more bucks tho
Not sure if "making real bucks" equals "doing something impactful"
Listen to Pump it by Black Eyed Peas. I like that song.
Even partners who sell our products are not adding try values to the clients. Come on. What values are truly added for creating a deck (after rounds of pointless edits) for steer co (who might not even read the slides)? I don't think I am a consulting person. It might just be me.
I am a first generation college student and my parents were truck drivers. I kept pushing my limits studying hard in middle school and high school, get good SATs, and go to colleges. I made $20,000 just in my freshmen year doing side business while maintaining a high GPA. I don't think I have "world class entitlement". I just think I haven't event tried enough.
OP, I think only way to do what you're describing is to be a founder at a startup. I do think you have a pretty inaccurate view of partner role though--I am one and I'm definitely not "creating steerco decks". Most of my time is spent with junior and senior execs in my industry, talking about how their companies can become more competitive and how we can help. Maybe it's not changing the world, but for every Tesla there are 100 WebVans. (Showing my age, I know).
I also grew up blue collar, and my first job post college was in the military, so the $500K-$1M band still feels like a shitload of money to me. (And I'm thankful for it every week.). WTF are you hoping to do that this amount of money won't fund?
BCG your comment made me event want to try more. Looking around, most of my childhood friends ended up anywhere but college. I have already beaten the odds by going to college and have a decent job. And now I am feeling even more pumped to do something impactful and make real bucks.
OP, You're beginning to depress me now.
@ OP - I feel you.
At first you were amusing though.
It's scary home companies act on recommendations made by kids learning on the job!! Call a few experts, run some knowledge searches, some Google searches ... and cobble together a deck with math made to evoke confidence. I call BS on this. Insecure overachieving narcissistic whoring
Fuck capitalism... why not do something actually fulfilling instead of trying to be a multi millionaire and help people who are less fortunate
I would assume the work in finance is much more direct. Especially in structured finance etc. instead of tweaking presentations over and over again in consulting. I don't feel I am adding much value in consulting really. And doesn't 500k seem a bit little considering you are selling your life to one company?
Like I don't feel the kind of achievements anymore in this job, and neither am I convinced I will have that kind of feeling at partner level.
Op. Tell me, what color is the sky in your world?
I was a STEM major. GIVE ME SOME CHALLENGES!
Politics in IB are substantially worse than in Consulting. At VP and up levels you can still get canned if people do not like you. That typically will not happen at Big 4. Much like Consulting, investment banking is really just about making other people rich; do not know if that is the impact you are looking to make.
