What are promotional raises looking like for your firm from associate to senior associate? Apparently GT is only doing a 7% raise (per multiple folks in the GT bowl). In the past, most folks have received at least 15% up to 25% if you exceeded expectations, from what I’ve seen. If other firms are higher, I might consider jumping boats because 7%, even mid pandemic is a slap in the face. Especially for someone who exceeded expectations.

I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

Anyone else here actually find auditing enjoyable? Yes, the hours are insane. WLB hasn't been good for me. But I feel like I'm always learning new things on the job even after 6 years. I’ve been thinking of making a switch from audit to TAS. I’m currently a S1 (2 busy seasons experience), and rated as a top performer at my firm. I’m contacted by Kroll, but recruiters there told me that since I haven’t got any TAS experience, I should be applying for their Analyst role instead of Senior Associate. Honestly, I want to switch to TAS but not that desperate to leave my firm. Anyway, I just wonder if you guys have the same situation and usually how long it takes to get promoted?
