Cooley folks check in. What did they give you? Are you still up on the website?

I’m fascinated by the lack of saltiness. “Still love the firm” and general happiness with 3 measly months (but apparently no website time right?). How did Cooley manage to keep laid off associates happy?

like

Laid off associate checking in. Definitely not happy, and definitely do not love the firm. But pretty excited to see how this dumpster fire pans out!

3 months severance, which I appreciate

Of course they did. That’s how severance works.

And they announced it instead of stealthing.

yeah website only matters if youre hiding the layoff - being transparent about this (and not fake tying it to performance *cough* kirkland) eliminates the need

3 months severance, off of website starting the 2nd, outplacement counseling. I heard that clients have already been reaching out to hire the associates that got riffed.

I wasn’t cut but from what I heard meetings were 2 partners:1 associate, and then after all meetings happened a firm wide email was sent out. There have been office all hands meetings and practice group meetings since, and partners called everyone 1:1 to talk.

Does anyone know of someone who would be willing to mentor or coach me in marketing automation? I’m trying to make a career shift there and have done training and really enjoy it, but it’s hard to get practical experience without already being at a company that utilizes it. Any advice is welcome! Thank you

I'm going to start by saying I'm currently doing a FS bootcamp after spending years at Deloitte working my way up to tax manager (accounting background).

I've been researching different data structures and big O topics and was prompted with a coveted foobar challenge. Given that I would still like to continue my studies for a few months before formally starting the challenge is it possible to accept the challenge but not request the first problem immediately?

I’m new to B2B Tech Sales, about 2 months, but I’m not new to sales. How long does it take to ramp up and be competent enough to speak with prospects and not feel uncomfortable? I’m speaking with prospects that have 10 years plus of experience in tech and I have 2 months! I feel this may be harder than I thought!

I used to have so much faith in you. I bragged about you to everyone I know. You were it for me. And now, it’s like we never had a connection…like I never stood up for you or saw you as my one and only. You’ve misguided me too often, and I’m more lost with you than I am without you. So today, as I return home and you…still without a route to follow…still “searching”…I am DONE with you, Waze. GOOD DAY.

First year corporate associate here who overthinks most emails. I find that writing emails to clients/opposing counsel is the hardest/most stressful part of this job so far. So many times a mid level or senior will casually be like “send this to x and ask about y” and I don’t have any context or understand what to ask or how to ask it. Is this normal to hate writing emails this much? It could take me 30 mins to draft a pretty simple email sometimes. Help!
