I have a Mirena IUD and really like it!
Love my mirena
I’ve had Kyleena since July. Insertion hurt like heck, I spotted on & off for 5 months, cramps had me doubled over in pain so I was prescribed naproxen (definitely helped if taken as soon as I woke up), severe cramps without medication went away in November, I skipped a cycle in November, & had a light cycle last month.
Have the Paragard (hormone-free copper) - works great. First 2 periods after insertion were heavier but since then no issues
I like Paraguard because it’s hormone free. I’ve had three kids so no issues with insertion (I took a leftover Vicodin from baby #3 before my appt). It lasts 10 years and I’ll probably be hitting menopause by then!
I’ve used Mirena IUDs for 15+ years at this point and love them. A little spotting after insertion and then light periods for the first few cycles, after that no periods
Mirena users- did it lower your sex drive? When I was on the Pill, I lost my sex drive, so reluctant to try Mirena. Currently, I don’t use anything. My partner uses condoms. As an aside, my friend had copper IUD and suffered extremely heavy periods the entire time.
EY1 have you lost your sex drive, or has it increased? Any other changes? Hope you’re feeling better overall. I also have Mirena and have been debating having it removed bc I feel low energy all the time and my hair has thinned. However it’s hard to say if this is caused by the IUD or just coincidental timing with other stressors
Got Skyla about 1.5 years ago (3Y duration). Insertion was brutal (have not had children yet—they say it’s easier if you’ve already been pregnant) and I had horrible cramps for the first 6-8 months. Some very light spotting throughout that time too. Since then, I get a period every month which is still light but more substantial than when I was on the pill (I was expecting less).
Had the Mirena, got disassociative panic attacks, took it out after 3 months and have been struggling with an f'd up sex drive since.
I had mirena didn’t have any issues now I have Liletta which has same dosage but shorter time insertion time
Also Mirena. Also love it!
Watch the bleeding edge documentary. There’s not a requirement for these to even be tested on humans before sold. Many will have potentially dangerous long term health affects. Medical device industry is corrupt and All about money
That type of birth control is not reversible and not in the same category in my opinion. This is equivalent to female sterilization
Essure - was the first it’s kind, so proper research was required - they didn’t have any other prior approvals, so loophole wouldn’t apply. I think you are a bit confused with devices vs drugs. It is also still on the market.
Studies are required for all new indications. Also, clinical trials are control studies. It’s difficult to determine what will happen in the real world especially in people that were not studied.
Really wanted to get the Paraguard, but couldn’t due to a nickel allergy. The manufacturer said there may be trace amounts of nickel in the wire they use, and my doctor didn’t feel they could recommend it for that reason :/
Had Paragard for 2 years and finally took it out. Unlike many others, for me the heavy bleeding and cramping never went away. Usually had to use both a tampon and a pad just so I don’t bleed through my clothes! And took so many painkillers but sometimes would still wake up in the middle of night from heavy cramping and cry. Worsened my pelvic floor issues too. Finally took it out a few months ago and went back on the pill. So relieved. Mild flow, little cramping, improved pelvic floor condition.
Unfortunately for these things you usually won’t know until you’ve tried it...
