Core Tax to FP&A, what skills do I need to add before I apply? Been in PA for 6 years, been with small, midsize, and national level firm (Non-Big 4). Do I need SQL, Python, Tableau experience?

Tough love answer: Why should a company hire someone with 6 years of tax experience for an FP&A role? Do you have a good answer to convince them to take a chance on you?

Helpful answer: Learn how to build financial models from scratch, master excel shortcuts and macros, learn tools like Tableau and alteryx, understand the full P&L and the various drivers of a business (this is industry specific), what insights could you gain from financial data and what strategic initiatives could be executed as a result of the findings...

Overall, be ready for a lot of rejections and keep at it.

So they provide the courses and the certificate exams, but it does cost like 500$ to access them from what I remember. There’s also UDemy courses that are way cheaper but idk these CFI ones seems more fleshed out

I had a non traditional path out of law school because I graduated at the height of the Great Recession and my mother was seriously I’ll with cancer. I’ve worked for 2 big four firms in internal positions within compliance/regulatory for a total of 6+ years and am ready to make a move. What is my next best one? Is it totally impossible for me to go to a law firm?

Just got into a full time grad program for international affairs that starts in January of 2021. (completely changing careers). I need to stay working at my firm until then and possible after to get the billable hours for my CPA. I passed all 4 exams and I refuse to give let that go to waste...... how do I tell my employer I'll be going to school in a way that they'll still let me work part time? Extremely nervous they're just going to let me go.

I started in big law M&A 8 months ago and I’m super miserable. I don’t love the work or the stress/anxiety that comes with deal work. I also feel like I’m not picking up on it as fast as my peers/able to juggle as many deals at once as the firm would like. I’m thinking about making a switch to in house work, preferably commercial contact work. Seems like the hours and stress would be more manageable in that type of role. Any advice or insight?

I'm planning to take one more quarter of class. Will that be enough to put together a portfolio along with architecture pieces?

Hi,
I wish to share my story:I was working with ICICI Bank Ltd as chief manager since last six years. Last year my father expired during lockdown. While he was sick and after his death I took leave for three weeks. After I joined back I was informed about transfer from Mumbai to Gidderbaha branch and was asked to report there. I requested for change in location but in vain, organisation did not even arranged for place to stay for single woman. I resigned now after few months with no job in hand

So glad I’m leaving public!! Interesting timing but never too late

Taking a new role in industry after 2 years in public. It’s about a 70% increase from current salary and between 25-30% increase from expected salary after promotion to Senior (find out later today what my new figure would have been). It’s a remote position making solid money and interesting work/field. Just worried I’m leaving public too soon. Raises will be 2-4% in new role until promotion so I will catch up in public about 3-4 years from now. Thoughts?
