I’m not worried. Been following the news but trying more so to get info from medical journals vs mainstream media. Have also been asking medical friends who work for the NHS in England and they are not panicked. Current view is they’re taking it seriously but see the illness itself more as a bad winter bug, or the flu. I feel better getting this info from doctors who I personally trust to be realistic and rational.
Imagine getting on a NYC subway. You know, one of the packed lines early in the morning.
And the person next to you is sweating.
Then sneezes.
I don’t mean to start a political circle jerk but I am pretty concerned about the governments response. Trump has demonstrated he will falsify records relating to a disaster with a sharpie, remove experts who contradict him, holds stock performance above all, and will selectively withhold aid/resources from blue states (where we mostly work). Mike Pence, prior to 2016, was best known for fueling an HIV outbreak and trying to combat it with prayer. It doesn’t exactly inspire confidence and shouldn’t regardless of your political beliefs.
My bigger concern is Tedros at the WHO. That guy allegedly covered up THREE fully-fledged outbreaks of Cholera while Minister of Health in Ethiopia. The cover-ups were discovered when neighboring countries began seeing outbreaks.
Not inspiring in the guy tapped to globally coordinate response to what is clearly a pandemic.
The only way my leadership is going to actually let me work from home.
My 401k is.
I see corporate buy backs, the first to go with sales downshift with Asia stuck at home.
Not about the virus itself; we’re more likely to die from the flu. I’m worried about the economics of it, and of people panicking from the word “pandemic.” But we’ve actually had two flu pandemics in the last couple decades and nobody remembers that.
The fearmongering is stemming from racism for sure. People are boycotting Chinatowns in major cities around the world for fear of the virus DESPITE the fact that many non-Chinese people have gotten sick.
Yes. Even if you don’t get the virus you will feel its effects. The global economy is at risk. That’s why the market is in a free fall.
Exactly!
Headed to Italy tomorrow and worried I’ll be quarantined and can’t come to work on Monday #blessed
Also, airlines still flying and borders open, so...
I don't think I am worried, yet I did stock up on TP, just in case of that massive supply chain disruption
U can eat TP sc2
Probably out a few grand on a vacay to Japan so I’m definitely not happy. Being told we need to quarantine for 14 days in order to come back to work if we travel there.
JetBlue just threw down the gauntlet to all other airlines by offering free cancellation on all routes. United will follow - be patient.
For our travel and tourism clients and their summer spend. Yes.
If I didn’t live in San Francisco I wouldn’t be. But we have thousands of people here living on the street with deeply compromised immune systems. I think this city may be in for hell.
Copy1 haven’t thought about that! Yikes.
Just watch, after the Italian mess spreads all over Continental Europe. Canada will be next, we will get it from Canada. Just takes one asymptomatic super spreader that is networked. Like the church lady in South Korea. Normalcy bias is dangerous.
I am watching NorCal who knew it would be HHS staffers to take it off the base and into the community. Hanlons Razor rides again
Unemployed and never leave the house so nope!
They don’t remember because it did not have an R0 of 6 and a CFR of 2%.... and yea, a dude in the Dentsu office in Tokyo got it. So it’s out and about. Incentives are not aligned for most governments to care more for life over economic impact of ration fear and response.
Personally, no. Is my company? Absolutely, because our travel clients are impacted due to cancelled tours, our education clients who rely heavily on international students are losing revenue, and everyone is spending less because they’re making less.
Yeah 😬
First case of community spread found in Sonoma... Disney for older travelers... exactly why SF hit the panic button.
My husbands company conference is in San Fran and hes expected to leave Sunday. Shocked they havent cancelled yet...
Ramp Up?
News: this is a pandemic
Everyone:
Well that escalated quickly. Guess we officially have the answer to this question now! Hope everyone is safe and healthy.
