This isn’t to say that coronavirus is irrelevant, just to show that folks should take precautions against influenza amidst the coronavirus hype. Aside from the flu vaccine, some of the same precautions to avoid spreading viruses are effective against coronavirus, flu and many other less severe infections.

Very true points above.

I think it's worth noting though that the coronavirus has a lethality rate of 3%--much higher than the flu.
Everyone should get their flu shot and worry more about the flu than coronavirus. But I just think the lethality rate (+ the novelty) of the virus is what makes it scary, even if it isn't killing many people.

Additionally healthcare in China isn’t as good as in the US, especially when considering the scramble to build temporary hospitals

Go away with your facts and perspective and measured response!

OP - I agree with your post. Flu is a more relevant concern for the US at this point. And yes, I did get a flu shot.

But there are two numbers for the corona virus that are really scary:
Number dead:259
Number cured (recovered): 243

All other cases are still pending. If that morbidity rate holds then it is super scary.

Need rate for perspective #plsfix

It’s been almost 2 weeks since corona virus, and flu has been around almost forever. What is the time frame of the flu data and how does the proportionally compare to the corona?

@A2 if you read the original Bloomberg article I posted, US flu season picked up in mid-November, earlier than normal.

Laid off from AMLaw200 firm due to coronavirus. Had great grades first year of law school. Top of class. Able to secure summer associate position at this firm, led to first year associate position. But I did poorly after the first year of law school and graduated below 3.0 gpa. Do I have a shot at another big law firm? Seems that so many place an emphasis on grades rather than relevant experience. *sigh*

I find that single male friends of friends are generally very eager when we first met or were introduced (through events, common friends’ parties). I got invited to their hangout bunch / house parties (pre-covid), but the moment we established i have no romantic interest and only friendships, they disappeared and we become barely acquaintance. I genuinely want to keep them in my life as friends. Why is this the case?

Lateraling to a firm this September. During the post interview process I mentioned that I needed to reschedule my two week Bali honeymoon because of Covid (everything was paid for and then the world shut down). My travel agent just emailed me insisting on getting new August/September 2022 dates. Is this something worth reaching out to my new firm about? It feels kind of silly because it is soooo far away but maybe I’m missing something.

Anyone having any luck in breaking leases “BEFORE” move in date at University/On Campus condo housing in Arizona? If common areas won’t be open in building and the University does not open campus physically, any precedent?

Currently only reason in AZ that is close: The Rental Unit Is Unsafe or Violates Arizona Health or Safety Codes / Current statute: Arizona law (Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 33-1363 to -1365)

Would this include not abiding by state mandated Covid public space rules to open?
