It is an epidemic but at the same time there is no need to worry too much aside any precautions you need to take while travelling. Look at history, health epidemics have wiped out millions of souls. But our human immune system has evolved since then!

Both. It’s a major issue. And deserves the actual response.

But the emotional response is Way overblown. Just as it always is.

Overblown

Overblown. How harmful is the virus, isn’t it just the flu? 2% death rate? Great! We’re overpopulated as it is.

^ that’s frightening

And does this kick off a recession? Many factories are empty now and employees are told not to come in

There is a lot of evidence pointing to this being a bio weapon that got out of China’s level 4 lab which is explaining why they originally suppressed and jailed doctors for reporting on it and why they’re building massive “hospitals” with prison bars on the windows and crematoriums to be run by the military. Even the NYT has the yarn out for this one. But maybe dear leader is right and the US is overreacting.

like

Very worrisome

actually, it’s a pandemic. A global epidemic. 🦠

like

Yes

funny

I just can’t believe any of the data coming out of China. So it makes it hard to determine.

like

I think high chance it'll be pandemic. Hoping our 2 week quarantine in the US will be good enough to keep it to a minimum here

like

I agree. I think shutting down flights in US was a good call. Russia was able to do the same.

like

^ consider your logic. You think that deaths are over reported? Why would someone do that.

Reasonably one could say it’s at least 2%. It’s likely higher due to under reporting.

BCG1 re read my message... my POINT is that it is likely UNDER reported. Sigh. Reading comprehension...

Is it unhealthy to not workout so that I can keep my calories lower and diet in check? I notice that when I workout my appetite increases dramatically and it is much harder to stick to my diet. I feel like I should be exercising for the other health benefits but right now my focus is weight loss, and dropping my covid weight gain ASAP. Usually a gym goer - light weights and cardio 4/wk - but since gaining weight I’ve found my usual gym routine leaves me starving. Any advice?

Anyone in a similar situation?

My group has been going into the office 3-4 days a week since mid-June. Our office is in Houston, which is dealing with a surge of Delta cases. Every week we get multiple emails about someone in the building testing positive for covid. I would like to work from home until cases either decrease or I’m able to get a booster (so maybe 6 weeks). I know my firm would say it’s ok but I think ppl in my group would judge me & it could hurt my image at the firm. Thoughts?

Hi! After avoiding catching Covid for over 2 years it’s finally caught up with us. I tested positive last Thursday and my husband tested positive today (Monday). The tough part is how do we keep our 3 year old from catching it as he’s still negative. We wear masks in the house but one of us has to sleep with him as he won’t sleep alone

Should I bother applying if I’m feeling conflicted? i was set on applying this fall. Have 99th percentile gmat score, recommenders identified, visited schools, and contacted students. But I’m actually really enjoying my life as it is right now especially on the personal front - I love my city, lots of friends, work is good. I don’t want to leave my situation. On the other hand I’m worried about having a back up in case of layoffs plus I’ll be 26 this fall and don’t want to age out if I wait

Anyone also looking into greentech SPACS?

I've taken small positions (<$500 total) in these pre-LOI SPACs. In order of the size of my positions: BOAC, PDAC, SNPR, SOAC.

BOAC - Very bullish given the experience from Shell Capital, McKinsey and various U.S. utilities

PDAC: Management team has lots of energy and banking experience

SNPR: already had a successful merger with HYLN and purportedly has other candidates waiting.

SOAC: impressive utilities and consulting experience

My English is pretty good in every day circumstances but I struggle chatting or making small talk in team meetings.

For example, Is it coming on strong or coming off strong? Also, is it hunker down vs bunker down? Doubts like this creep up mid sentence and I start pausing to correct myself. Anyone else struggle with this? Tips to fix this?
