Could anybody share lessons learned from returning from military leave? I’m finding it more difficult to get staffed on that first project back than I anticipated.

You have to leave in good terms with your old project, which hopefully you did. You also have to start earlier than you think, so maybe 6-8 weeks before returning. What offering are you in? What type of project are you looking for?

Thanks for the reply. I’m not at Deloitte, but work for a public sector practice. My previous background was process improvement/program management before I left. Currently, I’m trying to leverage the military background/clearance to avoid returning to the bench. Lesson learned...should have started significantly earlier.

I couldn’t find anything either post-mobilization. Ended up exiting.

Yeah, that’s my fear as well.

Yep. Key is leaving on good terms, staying in touch with your team while you’re gone, and starting to work on networking and staffing well before you get back.

It varies from company to company but at least half way through the mob I’m reaching out to my resource manager and my counselor to start the convo of me coming back

I was diagnosed with mild ADHD, and partially why I went into project management is that I wanted to challenge myself for long term initiatives. Although I’m learning amazing things, I still need a lot of support at times. In addition, multi term or year projects give me anxiety, along with a number of personal obligations (I take care of my mom). My projects include well known ERP vendors, but I am unsure if I should continue targeting long term tasks. I’m waiting on meds to see how it helps.

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.

However, I’m lost when it comes to science and showing more than one teaching strategy since they want to see group work. HELP! Ha 😆

Currently talking to recruiters for a new job and it is honestly such a turnoff when they talk too much about having a strong company culture and/or talking about making sure I'm a good fit culturally. For me that borders on culty and is a red flag. I would much rather hear from a recruiter that a workplace's "culture" is that they are accepting of all cultures, diversity, and personality types.
