You’ll be able to exit to industry roles as a manager rather than a senior accountant. Senior Accountant to Manager in industry can take 5+ years, so you’re better off putting in 2-3 as a PA senior, get manager promotion, then leave.
You’ll also get a better salary leaving as a manager than leaving as a SA, who is then promoted to a manager.

EY1: Most people don’t want to put in the effort to go a non traditional path, it is less common but not impossible. My market has seen ~70% of our exits in the last 5 years from cmaas to non-accounting roles… obviously this is very unique and an outlier nationally, but it’s a good illustration that you’re more in control of your destiny than you think.
Fp&a is not a hard exit from fdd or cmaas, I don’t know a single person that’s had difficulty getting hired at any level. Corp dev is very different, the person who left had extensive industry expertise, financial instrument, structuring and modeling knowledge. That person supported this client for years before they reached out to him and offered the position. Sometimes it’s luck, relationships or a pit stop - don’t let people dictate your career based on what “usually” happens
Get out of audit ASAP. If you’re worried about exit ops, exit to advisory or consulting

Cmaas is capital markets and accounting advisory services. It’s very broad in what we cover, ranges from helping companies prepare S-1’s to structuring deal terms to achieve desired accounting to writing memos to support a position. Lots of m&a transactions but also other complexities like derivatives. Only need cpa for manager, everything is learned in the job
You won’t have to deal with a wife because she’ll have left by the time you make manager.

If you want to stay in accounting, stay until manager and go for accounting manager positions (Corp accounting, financial reporting, IA, etc).
If you want to pivot out of accounting, leave at senior.
I think it really depends. Promotion in private is very likely if you are good. People come and go in this environment. I left as a senior 2 (a little over three years in audit). I am now a vp doing accounting with 7.5 year of experience in total. People stay in public for the whole 7/8 year will only be able to get the same title/maybe lower in my company
