Thoughts on W20?
I worked there for a while. It’s pretty intense and not really a “fun” culture but they do great work.

So, I’m approaching this as a creative, not an account lead. But I fundamentally enjoyed it, but it also proved to be difficult at times due to some personal struggles.
The people are great, the work is generally fun (especially if you have the chance to do pro-bono work or see a What If to completion), the process is better than most agencies. I was generally not involved in the award-winning stuff, but I still found enjoyment in trying to push creative to a higher level on the more workaday accounts. There was a definite culture (parties and happy hours), and I think it’s only gotten better in recent years.
It also led me to develop some severe anxiety and depression due to overwork (and that’s my fault for not setting better boundaries), and I wasn’t the easiest person to work with as a result. My supervisor at the time wasn’t very accommodating to my light requests for flexibility (one day of remote work a week wasn’t okayed), so that was kind of a downer. Luckily, I can’t imagine that being a problem nowadays. 😉
For what it’s worth, I loved the account execs and leads I worked with; I personally never experienced account/creative strife when I worked there, and that was refreshing. There was definite career growth opportunities in the account department, too, at least from what I saw.
Ultimately, it was a good place, and I’d LOVE to work with the people again, but it wasn’t the right agency for me at the time. I’d work there again if I had the chance.

Freelance 1 you realize you’re making a fortune on your 14 hour days and can easily restrict your own hours or seek another gig that’s more suitable, right?

I’m on the account team. I think we’re facing the same shortage of staffing that every agency is facing, and that leads to each of having to carry more weight than normal for the time being. The account Dept has a really cool culture. We get together a lot for Dept meetings, and hear from renee and the other leaders. So I feel like I know what’s happening in the agency.
As we say at area 23 there is no account services, only account management, and we’re expected to manage the clients business, not service them. I’ve learned a lot in my 4 years here. It’s definitely a higher echelon than the other agencies I’ve been at. Better process. Much more organized. Better resources. Also a very financially healthy agency. Hit me up in DM if you have any specific questions.

SCW I’m not sure how to answer that question the way it is stated. The agency isn’t driven by either Dept, but we all know that at the end of the day we are here to deliver a product, not a service.
I’ve been here for almost 2 years and overall it’s been very positive. People are smart and generally fun to work with. Some accounts are more challenging, but that’s anywhere. The agency is doing well and they seem to be choosy about new clients, which is refreshing after coming from places that were desperate to get more business
I’ve heard BI is a nightmare
I was honestly thinking about applying for a job here but I didn’t and now I’m kind of glad.
