Does anyone ever take you up on this ethical quagmire ?
Almost all pleadings are publicly available documents? In my federal circuit, I’m pretty sure filing any document—let alone, a pleading—is disfavored. Same is true in my state, except some family law cases.
Also, the “conflicts” concern seems attenuated. It’s proofing, not rendering legal advice.
Genius way to get some good forms. Nice.
Wow. Not my intent at all. Just tryna make a few extra bucks while I wait to start my new job...outside of litigation lol...I have no need to hi jack any forms lol
These are potential issues with any legal task an attorney could outsource to an independent contractor. I worked as a legal writing attorney for awhile too for other attorneys in my jurisdiction and there were no ethical issues. I signed a confidentiality agreement and any required docs were shared through a secure portal.

Hm I guess there is a difference of opinion in whether “no ethical issues” means there were no ethics complaints/disciplinary actions or whether the confidentiality obligations are being followed according to the rules of professional conduct.

Yeah not so sure about that but let’s just agree to disagree generally anytime confidential information is shared to anyone outside the firm, advance written consent of the client is required under the ABA model rules and the rules of my jx. Both firms I worked for had very strict guidelines for securing written consent before any client info could be shared to anyone outside the firm.
There are also lots of ethics opinions that state the obligations of confidentiality/supervision of work etc, require that clients also need to be advised when work is outsourced to anyone outside of the firm - and the outsourcing attorney is still required to conduct conflicts screenings for the temp/contractors.
So all I am saying is that it creates a huge headache for the outsourcing attorney that it doesn’t sound like you are aware of.
What about proofing a 1L’s long memo?
