Post-Covid, I just cannot seem to find the inspiration to network at a conference such as the AWS DC summit. I initially wanted to get facetime with vendors to check out potential job openings. But it just feels like a large circle jerk where no productive work gets done. And besides all keynote addresses are recorded and available online anyway. Wondering if anyone out there feels differently or has had better experiences from these events? #aws

Im in the final round of interviews at VMware and news came on Monday that they are being acquired by Broadcom. Is this something that I should be concerned about? I know layoffs can happen after a merger/acquisition but there’s not much overlap between the two companies (chipmaker vs cloud infrastructure). My job will be a Sr Business Analyst role in internal strategy/improvement Any advice from folks experienced in M&A?

Had an interview last week with a start up. At the end of the discussion the interviewer said she’d love for me to come into the office and meet the rest of the leadership team on the following Tuesday (today). After the call, radio silence. I followed up twice but haven’t heard back. Any thoughts on this? Market turmoil make them rethink hiring?

Late night thoughts - I cannot figure out when to throw in the towel on consulting. I just switched to a Big 4 role two weeks ago and I feel like my stress has shot up significantly. I hate traveling for work and I want a role with good WLB. I know two weeks is nothing and I feel like a failure for giving up so easily but I feel I'm just not made out for this kind of life. Should I just suck it up and stick it out for two more years for the exit opps?

Just had the most bizarre 'not moving forward with you' call with Slalom. Can anyone verify if this is the norm? I got reached out to by a recruiter, about joining their team. A couple friends there were actually about to refer me so they gave me great reviews. After talking with recruiting I'm then told they 1) don't have openings anymore and 2) I seem to lack self-motivation because I said I wasn't learning anything new in my roles??
