Could insurance companies stop covering covid related hospitalization / costs for unvaccinated? Is that legal and would that move the needle on vaccination?

It would be litigated quite a bit and if so it would set a really interesting precedent. I supposed that the argument would be that you failed to take existing preventive measures forfeiting the financial protection insurance provides for treatment. That would create a precedent for all kinds of stuff (think smoking), where the insurer can argue you took the risk knowingly and then got sick so we will not pay. Slippery slippery slope.

Well I do think those 2 are harder to prove in my opinion but fair point M1

I hope so. Tunes would change real quick.

It wouldn’t move the needle on vaccination. This is the free rider problem with the vaccinated and healthcare workers paying for the unvaccinated.

I wonder if they should. It would suck in the short term, but the sooner the general public sours on health insurance industry, the sooner America will get some form of universal healthcare. A display of brazen rapaciousness might do the trick.

funny

Not legal (or least would go to SCOTUS first) and would probably not. Corporate pressure at this point would only re-entrench people’s beliefs about non-vaccination.

The "1st world" country with 3rd world health insurance. This sounds like a great strategy and surely would help.

Wouldn’t they then just skip insurance and go to indigent care (which is ER only) like the guests in our country do? Then the ER’s get clogged with folks with the sniffles, meaning people who actually need ER care don’t get it, and the taxpayer (or the insurance companies, via increased costs of care to compensate for uncollectible fees) foots the bill in the end anyway.

I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?

Hi 🐠- I have 2 interviews (1 first round, 1 final round) to be scheduled with MBB and got postponed due to COVID. Months later I found PM work really interesting and now thinking about devoting time to learn PM and switch. Currently at B4 and MBB used to be my dream. If you were me, will you continue to practice cases to get into MBB or switch gear for PM? Will MBB name get me a better PM job in tech ($, name etc)I don’t have any technical/coding background, but ultimately want to work in tech.

16 weeks and so worried all of the stress I’m under is going to hurt the baby. Between work, my own scary (non-pregnancy) health stuff, the pandemic, my mom (who is a widow and lives alone, basically isolated by choice due to covid) is having health issues, and pressures to keep billable hours up, I’ve been having complete breakdowns. Today I spent almost the entire day crying and now have to make up the billable time this weekend. I really worry abt what effect this will have on the babe.

Once, a M friend said "men are stronger than women, I could dominate you right now" and at the moment I didn't know what to say cause he was in fact bigger and stronger than me. But this is something that bothers me still... I think people in general, regardless of gender, have different abilities and it is not a matter of comparing but rather understanding how best to use them, for yourself and for the society. It pisses me off to know ppl can think like this, and he is actually a good friend
