Could people share some “I got laid off and it turned out to be great” stories? Granted I’m sure none of those stories involve being laid off in a global pandemic like I just was.

Thoughts on all of the layoffs happening?

Am I being a complete idiot? Current employer decided to move to another state more in line with their industry. We can either move with them, find a job elsewhere, or commit to stay until our position is transferred and be awarded a severance package (16 weeks pay). I’ve been getting reached out to by recruiters and almost passed out when I saw the salaries. I’m severely underpaid… like by 50% or more. So why am I struggling to leave??? Why do I care that I won’t be committing??

How are layoffs decided at B4 and Midtier? Is it from on high (i.e. your utilization and outlook is shit). Is it the partner(s) you work under being like oh yeah fuck this guy, let him go and let's keep Debby who hasn't billed dick in a dick year. Just curious. Recently promoted, but drunkenly pessimistic.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

The company I work for (as a 1099 contractor) failed to have me complete a W-9. Therefore, they do not have my tax id number, but have already wire transferred me 10 months worth of pay (in exchange for 10 months worth of work).
