I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

Procurement is recession proof. People always need to save money. BUT, I would say BI is the future.
I would do BI because data and analytics is a forward looking and rapidly growing space, so exits and advancement should be easier. Procurement is not growing like that. And procurement is becoming less important over time in the USA as service and software become greater % of gdp, meaning less focus on lowering costs of physical procured goods, though that decrease is gradual enough to not matter for a 2-3 year consulting stint.
Rising Star
Procurement also oversees procurement of services, such as everything outsourced
Accenture is great, and BI is cooler than procurement
Accenture is a better brand
Might be a bit late here but the people/ culture in KPMG Procurement’s practice are great. And, M1 - Procurement is becoming MORE important and strategic over time.
Appreciate the response. I really liked the culture and opportunity at KPMG based on my conversations with the team. Ended up taking the offer at Accenture. Definitely was a tough decision
