Funny thing is I laugh every day and never cry, and "just cheer up" is worse than the rest. 1 in 5 people struggle with mental illness; creatives are especially "prone." I was simply saying for an industry built on an understanding of the human condition, some of us aren't doing such a good job.

I think I've had mild depression and anxiety for most of my life (since age 9 or 10), and I was finally ready to just admit that this is not normal and get help, but I'm honestly terrified that if I do and the Republicans either destroy or sabotage obamacare that a depression or anxiety diagnosis will become a preexisting condition that will block me from getting health insurance again.

People, please stop self diagnosing. I've worked on a number of depression accounts and gone to a lot of patient interviews. Please get help speaking with a counselor, just don't throw around depression so easily as clinical depression is a severe and crippling mental illness, just googling that you feel sad and anxious, which btw are normal human emotions, is not making you an unfunctioning individual. Don't be so hard on yourself and if books don't help, talk to your pcp or schedule a therapist consultation.

Try Taoism. Or just learn to say "fuck it". Taoism is better.

For the record, I'm not sure how this happened as I wasn't speaking on behalf of myself, I was really trying to get the community to understand the plight of others. Personally, I have had help from an early age and would not self-diagnose. It does feel as if I was diagnosed here, even though there are plenty of illnesses aside from depression. Often, you can't tell someone has an illness, and I was simply asking on behalf of those who suffer that we stop telling people to look for the rainbows and butterflies. To those of you with non-assumptive comments, thank you on behalf of everyone who feels this way.

Oh ffs Pub 1, stop living in fear and fix yourself.

My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Would you charge a higher day rate for Big Tobacco? I somewhat still smoke, and I know that the effects of advertising somewhat played a macro influence on my decision to pickup. But in the end, I picked up because I was a "good boy" high-schooler who moved to college, threw up middle fingers to conservative upbringing, and tried to emulate the folks who looked cooler than me. So I'm not totally morally against it, but I feel like I should charge like I am.

Agency, nickel and diming from the jump - flag. Well known agency, cool project. 4 months freelance booking at a 20 % cut in my normal rate at 6hr days- budget was tight.

Bait&switch, first a 1mo contract during discovery until client signs sow. Hard month handholding needy vendor&client. I asked for my full rate and 8hr days for rest of project.

They hire another producer at 4hr days - the project and team will suffer.
