You also need to have the legal skills necessary to service that client base. The most dangerous challenge facing attorneys at any stage is not knowing what they do not know. Ignorance is not bliss and I would caution anyone who is less than 4-5 years our of practice against opening their own shop. Your real legal training begins when you start working for someone else who knows what they're doing; law school doesn't begin to teach you the basics of real practice. It may not be fun working for someone else, but they are also paying you to learn on the job as well as covering your mistakes.
Also, I would be surprised if a solo first year could attract the clients necessary to sustain themselves barring a large nest egg/business loan.

I know the feeling! Working for other people is a pain but you need to get your name out there to gain a solid client base... At least that's what I tell myself 🤷🏻♂️

I'm gonna start getting my name out real quick.
I think it all depends. Some people I know opened up their own firms right out of law school and are doing well. It’s really difficult to assess without knowing the skills and business acumen you already possess. I will say although the advice you’ve gotten is helpful, take it with a grain of salt. If you think you can strike out and with a good enough cushion financially, it can be the best decision you ever make.
