[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

Is it actually possible for people to take the time they need? At my office, we hear similar things but in actuality if you take time off, your work will double or it'll make it harder for your coworkers. So people have been skating/doing minimal work as a result.
This format is extremely isolating and everything is stressful. Leaders need to shift their expectations and the way they engage their teams/reports to support the reality that people are facing. If you’re nearly a year into this and just know realizing that people are having a hard time in the midst of the world burning, that says a lot.
If you see a dip in Productivity ask them to take some time off if they need and let them know politely that there seems to be a dip in results.
try reshuffling some work amongst team, one of the biggest impacts of Covid is high monotonous life, reshuffling might bring some energy and interest back.

I’m just in awe that an employer would say put your mental health first and actually mean it. 🥺 I’ve had some personal losses over this past year, which I did not share with colleagues and kept on powering through. When I finally shared with someone bc I was going to burst, they said: I’m sorry to hear that, but can you get me the finalized draft of this by EOD? 🆒 I’ve never encountered an employer genuinely indicating that it was important or that would dare ever giving ppl an opportunity to turn down a project or matter.
I don’t have any advice, but feel like you’re already on the right track/doing better than most. Kudos to you.

Hi. Were you in my head today? You just described my situation. NOT blaming only sharing: found out recently a couple of people have not adjusted since WFH so are now stressing because they are so behind versus those on the team running our marathon and communicating with those also working in order to complete work. So. Yeah, no clue what will happen to these folks. I also must figure out how to contain those not doing work because of their stress, how to help them deal with emotional stress? How because we are not in the office.
I feel like communication is more important than ever. It’s easy for people to feel left behind or that they don’t matter. Make sure to have 1:1 interactions, team interactions, etc. Also make sure people feel valued and know why their work is important.

I’m trying to incorporate listening sessions. Not exactly active listening but acknowledging feelings, concerns, offer support and collaboration. It’s focus on caring through actions.
