If you work at a Big 4 L&E firm, what are your biggest gripes of the firm?

I want to break into mergers and acquisitions but was unable to attain summer analyst positions in undergrad. Currently, I have an offer for compliance examiner for futures and a tax position at a midsize public accounting firm. What route would you suggest I take? If investment banking is out of the picture, then I would love to break into consulting for one for the big 4 accounting firms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This summer I’m due for a promotion to senior in the transaction services practice at a consulting firm that’s a direct competitor to the Big 4. Do I need to wait for the promotion to make that transition or could I feasibly get a promotional hire into a senior role at a big 4 with 1.5-2 years of experience?
